Concordia to face No. 1 USC in NCAA opening round on Dec. 5

After winning the first Western Water Polo Association title in program history, Concordia drew No. 1 overall seed USC in the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship opening round. 

The Golden Eagles (21-12) and Trojans (21-3) face off on Friday, Dec. 5 at 12pm. The NCAA postseason tournament is being held at Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, Calif.

The WWPA champion has been pitted against the top overall season in each of the past three years. Last season, Salem took on eventual national champion UCLA. Biola also faced UCLA in 2023 when the Bruins finished runner-up.

USC secured its fourth-straight Mountatin Pacific Sports Federation title on Sunday at Avery.

Interestingly, CUI head coach Justin Johnson, the 2025 WWPA Coach of the Year, won a national championship at Avery Aquatic Center while competitng for the UCLA Bruins in 2004. 

The CUI-USC winner advances to play the victor of No. 4 seed Fordham (25-3) and San Jose State (14-7) on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2pm PT.
