Tyukasz, Filippi earn WWPA Player of the Week awards

Anna Tyukasz of Concordia and Evalena Filippi of Fresno Pacific took home the WWPA's weekly honors following key performances in overtime wins.

Concordia's Anna Tyukasz capped the regular season on a high note for the Golden Eagles, registering seven goals, three assists and a .778 shooting percentage across two key wins that lifted CUI to the West Region title and a quarterfinal bye for the WWPA Championship. The sophomore from Csongrad, Hungary, netted four goals, including the game-winner in sudden victory, in the decisive contest for the top seed against Biola. The following morning, Tyukasz ended the regular season with three goals and two assists against Cal State Monterey Bay as CUI earned its inaugural West Region title in its first season as a conference member.

WWPA Defensive Player of the Week
FPU goalkeeper Evalena Filippi's performance in the cage lifted the Sunbirds to a conference victory on the final day of their regular season. The sophomore from Clovis made a career-high 19 saves in the overtime victory over UC Merced, turning away 67% of the shots attempted by the Bobcats. Her previous high was 11 on Jan. 17 against NCAA Division I Santa Clara.
